Schematic of Deadlock’s three lanes and objectives Two bases at the left and right, joined by three lanes: York, Broadway in the middle with the Midboss, and Greenwich. Each lane has a Guardian and a Walker per team before the base, which holds Base Guardians, two Shrines and the Patron. Schematic only, not to scale. What changed in City Never Sleeps#

The City Never Sleeps update on 29 Sep 2026 overhauled the map. If you learned Deadlock before then, these are the big differences:

  • Lanes were renamed and reworked into York, Broadway and Greenwich.
  • The space between lanes is organised into four districts.
  • New neutral content, the Bell Tower and the Sunken Plaza.
  • New interactables: crates, buff containers, healing snacks and steam vents.

Naming discrepancy

One York area appears as both “Seaport Dock” and “Shipyard Docks”, and “Old Fairfax Factories” also appears alongside “Fairfax Factories”. We’ll use whichever name the game shows once checked in a custom match.

The four districts#

Theater

One of the four districts between the lanes. Strategy notes are added after in-game testing.

Chinatown

Home of the Bell Tower.

Haunted Lot

One of the four districts between the lanes. Strategy notes are added after in-game testing.

Plaza

Contains the Sunken Plaza, where fog blocks sight and sound and drains stamina — dangerous to fight in if you can’t see who’s there.

Objectives and when they matter#

Each team defends Guardians, Walkers, Base Guardians, Shrines and the Patron, broken roughly in that order. Two timings change how you should play:

  • 12:00 — Guardians lose their extra resistance, so they become much easier to take.
  • 18:00 — Walkers lose theirs.

Before those times, a won fight might not be enough to finish a structure; after them, the same fight often is. A full objectives guide is planned.

Getting around the map#

  • Zip lines follow the lanes and are the fastest way back to a fight.
  • Teleporters link distant parts of the map.
  • Vents and jump pads launch you to higher ground.
  • Steam vents arrived with City Never Sleeps.
  • Ropes let you climb.

Movement technique — slides, dash-jumps and practice — is in the planned movement tech guide.

How to use the map: early, mid and late game#

Early game (before 10:00)

Your lane is your priority. Use quiet moments to clear nearby neutral camps as they unlock, and keep an eye on the clock for the first Urn at 10:00.

Mid game (10:00–18:00)

The Urn, the Rift and the 12:00 Guardian change pull teams together. Group before contested timers rather than arriving one by one, and avoid fighting blind in the Sunken Plaza fog unless you know who’s inside.

Late game (after 18:00)

With Walkers vulnerable, a single won teamfight can end in a destroyed Walker — and destroying enemy Walkers is how your team unlocks its extra item slots. Prioritise Midboss timings and push objectives together.

This section is written from the timers above and will be expanded with tested routes once timers are confirmed in game.
