Core mechanics explained

Weapon, spirit and melee damage

Your gun deals weapon (bullet) damage. Most abilities deal spirit damage. Melee is its own type. Each has its own resistances, and items buff each separately — which is why every hero guide here says whether a kit is spirit-leaning, weapon-leaning or a hybrid. A few effects deal pure damage, which ignores resistances.

Melee and heavy melee

Light melee (default Q) is fast but weak; heavy melee charges longer for more damage and range. Heavy melee also opens tough crates and Soul Bags.

Parry

Parry (default F) blocks an incoming melee and stuns the attacker, who then takes 25% more damage for 2.75 seconds. Full details in the parry guide.

Stamina

Dashes, double jumps and dash-jumps cost stamina. See movement tech.

Resistances

Bullet resistance and spirit resistance reduce incoming damage of each type. Items such as shields, resilience items and many debuffs move these numbers — read tooltips for exact values.

Crowd control

Stuns, silences, disarms, slows, immobilises and sleeps all appear in hero kits. Items like Debuff Reducer shorten them, Dispel Magic removes many, and Unstoppable or Indomitable protect you from the biggest ones.
