All ranks in order#
Deadlock has 11 ranks above the unranked state, from Initiate at the bottom to Eternus at the top. Each rank is split into six subranks, I to VI. Eternus works differently: placement there is based on percentile.

We rewrite this page within 48 hours of the reset to reflect any rule changes for the new season.
How to unlock ranked#
Ranked isn’t available from your first match. You need all of the following:
- 60 wins in Standard matches.
- 3 different heroes with 15 Standard wins each.
- No active matchmaking restrictions on your account.
New heroes and the 15-win rule
Newly released heroes are temporarily exempt from the 15-win requirement so you can play them in ranked, but they don’t count toward your 3 qualifying heroes.
Placement matches#
Your first 8 ranked matches are placements, and you play them solo. The highest rank you can be placed into is Oracle VI; the ranks above that have to be earned.
Rank points, streaks and loss protection#
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Points per match (adjusted by match quality) | ≈300 |
| Points per subrank | 1,000 |
| Points per full rank | 2,000 |
| Protection after reaching a new subrank | 2 matches |
| Protection after reaching a new rank | 5 matches |
Worked example: at roughly 300 points a match, three or four wins move you up a subrank. Once you reach the new subrank, the next 2 matches can’t drop you back down; reaching a new rank gives you 5 protected matches.
Win-streak bonus
The current win-streak bonus values haven’t been confirmed since the 2 Aug 2026 update. We’ll state the numbers only once we’ve confirmed which is current.
Playing ranked with friends#
- Maximum party size is 2.
- You must be within 1 rank of each other (in Eternus, within 3 subranks).
- Placement matches are always solo.
Draft, bans and hero swaps#
Ranked uses 3 bans (Standard uses 2). After the draft you get 30 seconds to swap lanes or heroes, with one hero change allowed.
How to check your rank#
The menu path to view your current rank and points is being confirmed in the current client. Pending in-game verification
Tips to climb#
- Narrow your pool. You already have three heroes with 15+ wins — your best results will usually come from them.
- Use your bans on what beats you, not just what’s popular.
- Buy counters early enough to matter — see the counter items cheat sheet.
- Review losses for one decision you’d change, rather than blaming the draft.
