How to check server status#
There’s no official live status page that we can point to, so use several signals together:
- Your party: if everyone lags or disconnects at the same moment, it’s server-side or regional.
- Recent updates: problems right after a patch usually affect many players and get fixed quickly.
- Official channels: the Deadlock forum (forums.playdeadlock.com) is where Valve posts changelogs.
- Community outage reports show spikes when lots of players hit the same problem.
Regions#
Matchmaking places you on servers by region. If your ping is consistently high, check that the game isn’t matching you far from home, and make sure no VPN or proxy is routing your traffic elsewhere.

Queue times#
Queues vary with time of day, region, mode and rank. Very high and very low ranks, off-peak hours and small regions all wait longer. Ranked has extra restrictions that can lengthen queues — see below.
Party rules and penalties#
- Ranked parties are limited to 2 players, and they must be within 1 rank of each other.
- Unlocking ranked has its own requirements — see the ranked guide.
- Leaving matches can bring matchmaking penalties; reconnect if you crash rather than abandoning.
