Violet’s abilities explained#

Violet has three regular abilities and an ultimate. Ability names and behaviour below were checked on 27 Oct 2026; numbers are left out on purpose because they change with almost every patch — the in-game tooltip shows the current values.

Living Ink ability icon

Ability 1

Living Ink

Empowers her next few bullets so they can be steered in flight, adding bullet damage and a small spirit splash. Alt-fire paints a solid ink wall that blocks projectiles and characters.

Flow State ability icon

Ability 2

Flow State

Sends a brush forward that leaves a trail, boosting ally slide distance and slowing and damaging enemies it passes. Reactivating flicks the brush for a wider burst.

Still Life ability icon

Ability 3

Still Life

Channels on a chosen hero, dealing spirit damage while Violet keeps them in view. Completing the sketch adds damage and a stun and drops a pickup with permanent stats.

Abstract Landscape ability icon

Ultimate

Abstract Landscape

Creates a circular ink enclosure that blocks vision and grants allies spirit power. Enemies inside are revealed and punished with damage, silence and slow when they leave.

How to play Violet#

Use your tools before the fight, not after it starts: block the escape route, zone the objective, then let the enemy walk into it. Timing and placement matter more than raw damage.

Tips from the current kit

  • Land Living Ink shots on heroes to reduce all ability cooldowns.
  • Use ink walls to block projectiles and paths.
  • Ride the Flow State trail to slide farther.
  • Keep Still Life's target in sight — breaking line of sight cancels it.

Build framework#

A starting framework, not a tested build

This section explains what kind of items Violet’s kit rewards, built from how the abilities work. It isn’t a win-rate-tested build. For community builds with current stats, open the in-game Build Browser and filter by hero, then check our items explainer to understand why each item is there.

Hybrid lean. The kit mixes weapon and spirit damage, so builds lean whichever way your abilities and the game call for — often spirit items for the abilities you level first, then weapon items as the gun takes over.

StageWhat to look for
LaningCheap 800-soul items that help you trade and sustain in lane, plus one that boosts your main damage source.
Mid gameYour first 3,200-soul item is usually the biggest single jump in power — buy toward the one that makes your best ability or your gun stronger.
Late gameFill slots with 6,400-soul items, and swap cheap starters for upgrades. Leave room for an answer to what the enemy is doing.
DefenceMatch the enemy’s damage: shields and resistance against whichever type is hurting you most.

Ability points#

Ability unlocks come from levelling up; ability points then buy upgrade tiers. A sensible default for Violet:

  1. Unlock the ability that helps you farm or trade in lane first — for most players that’s Living Ink or the ability you can hit most reliably.
  2. Unlock all three regular abilities early so you have every tool in the first fights.
  3. Unlock Abstract Landscape as soon as it’s available.
  4. Put upgrade points into the ability you use most, then into whichever upgrade tier changes how an ability works (tier 3 upgrades often do).

General guidance; upgrade tiers and costs are shown in game.

Playing against Violet#

  • Break her ink strokes with heavy melee, but expect spirit damage back.
  • Break line of sight during Still Life.
  • Don't linger inside Abstract Landscape.
  • Living Ink shots can't headshot.
